Named Tvashtar (Artisans of God), this annual fashion show by graduating students is an event eagerly awaited by the fashion industry. Over the years eminent fashion personalities, such as, Manish Malhotra, Narendra Kumar, Neeta Lulla, Sangeeta Kathiawad who have come in as chief guests have shown their appreciation of the level of workmanship and professionalism shown by our students. To ensure that our budding and talented fashion designers are provided with the best possible platform, top-of-the-line models, choreographers, lighting experts and photographers are brought in to put the fashion show on a truly professional level. Achala Sachadev, Sameer Bhayani, Elric D'souza and Marc Robinson are some of the names who have been associated with the show.
Zebaish ( Means to beautify) - an annual fashion show is organized for students of this dress designing course. It is managed entirely by the first and second year students and gives them practical hands on training on all the ingredients required to put together such a fashion event.

THE ANNUAL FASHION SHOW 'ZEBAISH'
ZEBAISH is a show presented by the first and the second year students. It is independently organised by the students. Garments presented in the show are not only designed but also constructed, accessorised, choreographed and modelled by the students themselves.
THE ANNUAL FASHION SHOW 'TVASHTAR’
It is the final year students impression of ideas and creativity. Tvashtar is a glamorous show presented on a professional level. Here too the garments are designed as well as constructed and accessorised by the students. Tvashtar is choreographed by renowned personalities like Lubna Adams, Achala Sachdev, Sameer Bhayani, Elric D'Souza and Marc Robinson. These garments are presented by well-known faces like Ujjawala Raut, Noyanika Chatterji, Nina Manuel, Walusha, Tapur and Toopur Chatterji.
MOCK FASHION SHOW
This show is planned and executed by the final year students under the guidance of a Visiting Faculty Mr. Hugo D'Souza, who himself is a professional compere for most of the major fashion events. The exercise was done to instill in the students the value of co-operation, hardwork, planning etc. Each and every student learns the techniques of choreography, backstage, anchoring, modelling and interaction.
Please Note: Students are required to read the prospectus thoroughly.
Forms are issued and accepted by the Polytechnic only after May 2nd till the 1st week of June approximately.
Minimum eligibility is S.S.C. with a pass percentage of 50%. For the Reserved Category - minimum 45%
Selection for admission shall be made strictly on the basis of merit with reservation of seats for Reserved Category candidates.
The results of the final selection will be displayed on the notice board.
Students are expected to pay their fees within 48 hours of the selection. Failing this, the seat will be given to another student.
Domicile:
- Candidates should have studied in the State of Maharashtra for the two preceding
academic years.
- Children of Government employees are eligible for admission if the parents have
been transferred to Maharashtra within two preceding academic years.
- Children of persons domiciled in Maharashtra even if they have passed their
qualifying examination from outside the State in the two preceding years.
The students must submit the following documents with their admission form. These will not be returned.

Assesment Norms and Certification
Examinations are held at the end of each term. Student achievement is further judged through a system of internal assessment. The Institute reserves the right to retain any piece of examination / class work.

In order to train the students to understand the pulse of the market in the context of: What will sell? Who should I target? What are the trends? They are guided to design an entire line of garments for an annual exhibition-cum-sale at a prime location in the city.
A two month internship is organized for all students to understand the day-to-day practical aspects of working in the fashion industry.
Students are guided and encouraged to compete at an all-India level. They are not only encouraged to participate but are provided with all possible assistance for prestigious competitions, such as, CMAI (Clothing Manufacturers Association of India) contest, Kingfisher contest, Spyker Jeans contest. Top designers are called in to take them through the entire designing process. Over the years several students of this fashion designing course have won laurels for themselves and The Institute at these competitions.
Regular study tours are organized to: a textile laboratory or export house or a spinning and dyeing unit (to name just a few) in order to help students understand the practical side of learning. They also act as catalysts for the students' creativity.
This Dress Designing Course has a professional & talented faculty. They come and share their experiences and expertise to give our students a much wider perspective through discussions, seminars and workshops.

ABSOLUTE FASHION
An exhibition cum sale of garments designed by students was organised at Cache Art Gallery - Bandra (2005) by the graduating students of the department which got a good and encouraging response.
WORKSHOP ON NATURAL DYEING
This workshop was conducted by Dr. Bosco Henriques & Ms. Kavitha Nair of Natural Dye Resources. Use of Natural dyes for the complete dyeing process which is eco friendly and prevents damage caused to environment by synthetic dyes.
